Asbestos Testing And Remediation

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral composed of flexible fibers. Even though these minerals are resistant to heat, electricity, and corrosions, they are highly toxic. When we are exposed to asbestos it is usually through renovations or demolition on a building that contains asbestos products.

Asbestos FAQ

Generally, you can’t tell whether a material contains asbestos just by looking at it, unless it is labeled. If in doubt, treat the material as if it contains asbestos and leave it alone. A licensed restoration company, such as Preferred Choice Restoration, is certified to professionally test for and treat asbestos. Any residential home built before 1982 is tested as well as the presence of popcorn ceilings.

A piece of a joint compound or texture of the material in question is cut and taken for analysis.

Preferred Choice Restoration uses a contained abatement process. We do this by setting up a regulated work area including HEPA vacuuming, proper suits and respirators, and applicable labeling instructions of the contaminated material. We then conduct proper removal of the lethal material using transport vehicles to designated landfills. We run an air quality test before the containment goes down.
